Inclement Weather Procedures

How We Communicate

A blue and white sign with the text 'INCLEMENT WEATHER' and a website address for Cabarrus County Schools.

With winter upon us, please be reminded of our inclement weather notification procedures. If no information is relayed concerning a closing or delay, then school is operating on a normal schedule. Here's where you can find the latest updates when weather forces schools to close or delay:

🌐CCS Website: Visit our district website for real-time announcements and information.

#️⃣Social Media: Follow us on FacebookInstagramNextDoor, and  (@cabcoschools) for quick updates and important alerts.

📧ParentSquare Emails: Check your inbox regularly for updates sent to your email and make sure emails from parentsquare.com are not being sent to your spam folder or blocked from delivery.

📱ParentSquare text and app notifications: Watch for updates via text and app notifications from CCS.

📱ParentSquare Phone Calls: Listen for our ParentSquare calls, delivering information to your phones. Phone calls will typically only be sent if the ParentSquare text fails to go through.

📺Local Media: Keep an eye on local news media outlets through television, websites, and social media for updates on school closings or timely information about weather conditions.

‼️IMPORTANT: Please review and update your contact details in PowerSchool to ensure we have the correct email address and phone numbers. If you have any questions about this, please contact the data manager at your child’s school. Your contact information is synced directly from PowerSchool into ParentSquare. It’s important to update your contact details with your child’s school anytime they change to ensure seamless communication.

Stay connected and stay informed.

CCS Inclement Weather FAQ

Cabarrus County Schools wants to ensure that parents, staff, and the community are prepared for any changes to the school schedule that might occur as a result of inclement weather.

Are we having school?

The superintendent will obtain information from weather forecasts and district personnel about road conditions to determine whether school should be cancelled, delayed or dismissed early due to severe weather.

How will we know?

Information about school cancellations, delays and early dismissals will be posted to the district website at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us. We also will notify you via ParentSquare phone calls and email messages.

Is it safe to go outside?

Just because the view outside your window is clear doesn’t mean it is for others. CCS will assess road conditions across the county and evaluate whether it is safe to put buses, student drivers and employees on the road.

When are make-up days?

Make-up days are designated in the school year calendar. Saturdays also are an option for making up missed school days. Make-up days will be posted on our district website and other communications channels.

What else should I know?

Remember that the information posted to CCS sites is the official information from the district. We encourage parents to have childcare arrangements set in anticipation of school closings and delays. Our KIDS:PLUS programs are not open when school is closed for inclement weather.
