BOE updates
The Cabarrus County Board of Education met on Monday, July 10, 2023, for a combined work session and business meeting. Here is an update on presentations, and approved action items from the meeting.
PRESENTATIONS and UPDATES
Dr. Michael Wiliams, Chief Human Resources Officer, updated the Board on the status of current hiring and recruitment within the Human Resources Department. Anyone interested in a current vacancy should visit the Human Resources webpage.
Dr. Johanna Parker, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools, joined Principal Brian Dulin (Wolf Meadow Elementary School) and Principal Danielle Baker (Cox Mill Elementary School) to update the Board on discipline data for elementary schools. Cabarrus County Schools recentely completed its first year using Educator’s Handbook to track discipline data across elementary schools.
Art Whittaker, Director of Transportation, updated the Board on the district-wide implementation of the Edulog Where’s My Bus app which will be available to CCS parents this school year.

- 4130, Discretionary Admission, PLS Updates
- 4155, Assignment to Classes
- 4334/5035/7345, Use of Unmanned Aircraft (Drones)
- 5024/6135/7267, Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Alternative school accountability model for 2023-24.
- A contract with GeoSurfaces to install synthetic turf in the football stadium at Hickory Ridge High School.
- The district Microsoft Softchoice contract for the 2023-24 school year.

The Board of Education will next meet on Monday, August 7th for their monthly work session. This meeting will begin at 6:00 P.M. in the Board Room of the Education Center. The agenda can be viewed on BoardDocs.
