Personnel Announcements
Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki has announced the following personnel appointments, which were approved by the Board of Education on Monday, September 11th.
William "Loren" Campbell, Specialist for Data Use for School Improvement for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, has been named Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation replacing Erica Williard, who has resigned. He will begin his role with Cabarrus County Schools on October 3rd.
Loren has previously served as a principal, assistant principal, instructional facilitator and teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Florida.
Loren holds a bachelor's degree from St. Andrews College, a master's degree from California State Polytechnic University and a school administration license from Queen's University.
Cathryn Morse, Dean of Students at Mint Hill Middle School, has been named assistant principal at Weddington Hills Elementary School replacing William Davis, who has resigned. She will begin her new role at Weddington Hills on October 12th.
Cathryn began her career with Cabarrus County Schools in 1999 before starting her current position in January, 2023. She previously taught at Bethel Elementary, C.E. Boger Elementary, and Patriots STEM Elementary before completing her principal internship at West Cabarrus High School.
Cathryn holds a bachelor's degree from Mansfield University and a master's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Erica Thompson, Director of Children's Ministries at Prospect Baptist Church, has been named assistant principal at Concord Middle School replacing Annessia Lee, who was recently named principal at Weddington Hills Elementary School. She began her new role at Concord Middle on September 12th.
Erica has previously served as an Exceptional Children's teacher with Stanly County Schools, as well as an Exceptional Children's Coordinator and assistant principal.
Erica holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and a master's degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
The following personnel appointments were approved by our Board of Education on Monday, September 18th.
Dennis Hobbs, Principal at Jay M. Robinson High School, has been named Director of Professional Learning and Leadership in the Human Resources Department in a new position created by an increase in federal funding. He will begin his role in the Human Resources Department when a new principal is named to Jay M. Robinson.
Dennis began his role at Jay M. Robinson High School in 2018. Prior to that, he had served as a teacher and school administrator in Rowan-Salisbury Schools, Mooresville Graded Schools, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Baltimore City Schools.
Dennis holds a bachelor's degree from King's College and master's degrees from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Western Carolina University.
Dr. Kathryn Wagner-Friedman, Multi-Language Learning Coordinator for Cabarrus County Schools, has been named Director of Title III in a position created by a department reorganization due to an increase in federal funding. Her new position is effective immediately.
Kathryn began her career as a Spanish Teacher in 2008. She has also served as an instructor for various courses on the bilingual methods of teaching, equity, and second language acquisition. Kathryn began her current role with Cabarrus County Schools in 2020.
Kathryn holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and both her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Lisa Hagen, Learning and Development Lead, has been named assistant principal at Winecoff Elementary School replacing Stephanie Thomas, who has transferred to the same position at Hickory Ridge Middle School. She will begin her role at Winecoff at a date to be determined later.
Prior to transitioning to her current role in the private sector, Lisa served in the Exceptional Children's programs in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Lincoln County Schools.
Lisa holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo and a master's degree from Wingate University.
Congratulations to Dennis and Kathryn on their new roles within the district and welcome Loren, Cathryn, Erica and Lisa to Cabarrus County Schools.
