MFWC's Walls named EC Teacher of Excellence
Congratulations to Mary Frances Wall Center exceptional children’s teacher Julia Wall who has been named the 2024-25 EC Teacher of Excellence for Cabarrus County Schools.
"I just have to say, being a part of Cabarrus County and his EC program has been amazing,” Walls said. “I have learned more while being a part of this program than I have throughout my whole career. The amount of support that we receive, and education and guidance has made my passion for this career grow.
“I can't imagine being anywhere else doing what I'm doing. This is all I want to do, and it is truly my passion, and I love being here."
Walls has demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication to early childhood education throughout her career. For the past 10 years, she has served as a cooperating teacher, mentoring numerous student teachers and helping to shape the next generation of educators. Her expertise extends to the state level, where she contributed to the review of preschool curriculum and participated in national training on *Conscious Discipline*. Her classroom continues to serve as a model for preschool behavior strategies, showcasing her commitment to excellence.
In addition to her work with student teachers, Walls is a powerful mentor to teacher assistants, helping them develop into certified educators. Her passion for community engagement is evident through her planning and leadership of school family events and curriculum nights, fostering a strong connection between families and the school. A dedicated advocate for early childhood education, she tirelessly champions change at the local, state, and national levels, ensuring that early education remains a priority in policy discussions.
“Julia is organized, consistent and positive in her work with young children and families,” said Mary Frances Wall Director Trina Wenzel. “She is always looking for ways to help children grow and gain new skills. She is detailed in her work, data driven in her instruction, predictable in her classroom yet flexible in every aspect.
“She can shift on a dime and yet children feel safe, secure and know she is their support. She is a true teacher of excellence in her quite but steadfast manner.”
Congratulations, Julia!
